VIDEO: Pete Davidson Teaches a Suburban Teen About Women, Tattoos, and Masturbation in ‘Big Time Adolescence’ Red Band Trailer
Fellow Stern Show veteran Jon Cryer co-stars in the March 13 coming-of-age comedy
February 19, 2020“Saturday Night Live” star and 2018 Stern Show guest Pete Davidson teaches a sheltered suburban teen about everything from art to masturbation in the red band trailer for the Hulu comedy “Big Time Adolescence,” arriving in March.
The clip begins with Mo (Griffin Gluck) hitting up an art museum with his older best friend Zeke (Davidson), an irreverent college dropout who also happens to be his sister’s ex-boyfriend. Mo is underwhelmed by an abstract painting, but Zeke sees the grander metaphor.
“When you get older you realize that’s kind of all life is—It’s just a bunch of scribbles and dicks and violence, all in a void,” Davidson’s character says (above).
The life lessons don’t stop there, either. Much to the consternation of Mo’s father, played by 2016 Stern Show veteran Jon Cryer, Pete’s character takes the teen under his wing and encourages him to experiment with everything from drugs to tattoos. He also offers up sage advice about masturbating before dates: “You gotta jerk off before you go fuck a girl,” Pete’s character tells his young friend, adding, “I jerked off before I picked you up. You gotta always be prepared. I don’t know where the fuck we’re going tonight.”
Mo’s dad eventually has his fill. “You meet some punk and you have no idea at the time that he’s going to be parked in front of your house every day for the rest of your goddamned life,” Cryer’s character bemoans shortly before discovering his teen son’s awful new tattoo.
Directed by Jason Orley, “Big Time Adolescence” premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The coming-of-age-comedy also stars Sydney Sweeney and Colson Baker.
“Big Time Adolescence” opens March 13 in theaters and arrives March 20 on Hulu.
