VIDEO: Pete Davidson Smokes Weed, Lives With His Mom, and Fights Bill Burr in Judd Apatow's 'The King of Staten Island' Trailer

Pete Davidson is a twenty-something stoner struggling to cope with the loss of his father in the official trailer for Judd Apatow’s heartfelt comedy “The King of Staten Island,” arriving in June.

The actor, “Saturday Night Live” star, and 2018 Stern Show guest plays an aimless weed-enthusiast named Scott who still lives with his mom (Marisa Tomei) and never learned to cope with the death of his father, a fireman who died when he was just a little boy.

When his ambitious younger sister (Maude Apatow) heads off for college and his mom starts dating Ray (Stern Show veteran Bill Burr), another fireman, Scott suddenly doesn’t know what to do with his life. Ray suggests he follow in his father’s footsteps and become a fireman himself, but Scott doesn’t take kindly to the idea and the two later end up wrestling in the backyard.

“What’s wrong with being a fireman?” Burr’s character asks in the trailer (above).

“It’s fine if you don’t have kids. Because you don’t know if you’re gonna come home or not. And then your kids are fucked up,” Pete’s character responds.

Steve Buscemi, Pamela Adlon, and Bel Powley co-star in the film, which Apatow, Pete, and his former “SNL” colleague Dave Sirus wrote.

Apatow has visited the Stern Show multiple times over the years, last sitting down with Howard in 2015 to talk about his book “Sick in the Head.” When Davidson stopped by in 2018, meanwhile, he opened up about everything from his relationship with pop star Ariana Grande to why he once turned down dinner with screen legend Jack Nicholson.
