David Letterman Says Glowing Things About Howard on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’
“I’ve gotten to know him as a completely different guy, and that’s the guy that I have really gotten to be friends with over the years,” the late-night legend remarks
September 28, 2022It’s been a whirlwind of Howard mentions on television recently. First, Joe Buck asked about him on the most recent “Monday Night Football” broadcast and then, fresh off his interview Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel brought Howard up to late-night icon and Stern Show guest David Letterman on his own show.
Admitting that he was initially intimidated by Howard when the two worked at NBC in the 1980s, Dave noted how much has changed since. “Over the years, Howard and I have spent some time together and I’ve gotten to know Howard and he was such a sweet man,” the host recalled to Jimmy. “I’ve gotten to know him as a completely different guy, and that’s the guy that I have really gotten to be friends with over the years.”
“I am very honored by Dave spending that much time on someone like me,” Howard said, joking that 80 percent of the interview was about him. “I’m very honored that my two boyfriends, Dave and Jimmy Kimmel, were talking about me and I think it’s a great late-night format. I think people should just sit and talk about me.”
Stern Show executive producer Gary Dell’Abate even made it onto the show by way of a female audience member shouting “Baba Booey” during the taping. “It was amazing,” the woman, who called in Wednesday morning, told Howard. “It was my first ever ‘Baba Booey’ and it made national television, I could not be any prouder.”
