VIDEO: Funnyman Jay Pharoah Delivers Spot-On Impressions of Will Smith, Chris Rock, and Denzel Washington in Visit to the Stern Show
Actor and comedian's new film “Spinning Gold” opens March 31
February 28, 2023Stern Show fans who tuned in a little late Monday morning could be forgiven for thinking Howard had on an all-star guest panel featuring the likes of Will Smith, Chris Rock, Denzel Washington, and President Obama. In truth, he welcomed a visit from actor, stand-up, and acclaimed celebrity impressionist Jay Pharoah. The 35-year-old “Saturday Night Live” veteran and star of the upcoming biographical drama “Spinning Gold” wowed Stern Show listeners with a cadre of spot-on impersonations before regaling Howard with tales from his days at Studio 8H, including a few wild interactions with celebrated ladies’ man and recent “SNL” graduate Pete Davidson.
Pharoah’s visit began with a masterful impression of Will Smith delivering an apology to Chris Rock for slapping him at last year’s Academy Awards. “I’ve been working on my anger. I’ve been doing hot yoga, cold yoga, medium yoga — all the different temperatures of yoga — you know what I’m saying?” Jay — as “Smith” — said, adding, “I just lost it, man.”
“Chris, look man, I’ve been doing a lot of spiritual soul searching … so, what I’d like to say [is] … I apologize that you didn’t get smacked earlier,” “Will” continued.
Considering Pharoah also does a spot-on impersonation of Rock, he was all too happy to provide a rebuttal. “Wow, at least I can still go to the Oscars. He can’t even show up. If [he] shows up, they will taze the fuck out [him.]” Jay said — as Rock — before diving into impressions of Denzel, Barack Obama, Richard Dreyfuss, Tracy Morgan, Eddie Murphy, and even Pete Davidson.
Jay Pharoah’s new film “Spinning Gold” opens March 31. Get more information on his upcoming stand-up dates here.
