Jimmy Kimmel and His Wife Molly Predict What Will Happen on Their Italian Vacation With Howard and Beth
Longtime friends of the show also talk partying with Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, and Keith Richards
June 27, 2024Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney popped in for a visit on Wednesday morning, joining Howard and Beth on the last live Stern Show before their trip to Italy. As longtime listeners no doubt remember, Howard and Beth had years ago planned to visit the European country with Jimmy and Molly, but the onset of COVID-19 forced them to reschedule to this summer. Now, on the eve of their international adventure, Howard wondered if anyone had cold feet.
“Everybody is going on this trip, and that’s that,” Kimmel proclaimed.
While Howard has never been shy about his disdain for traveling abroad, he seemed genuinely enthusiastic to explore the world with Jimmy and Molly. “Going to Italy, especially with the two of you … might be good for me,” he declared. “If I get out of my comfort zone and maybe push myself a little bit, maybe I will like traveling.” “I am going to be Mr. Italy,” he added. “I’m going to have my outfits. I’m going to have so much fucking fun. You’re going to be like, ‘What were we worried about?’”
Jimmy appreciated the enthusiasm but still predicted his good friend would find something to complain about. “I just know how this ends. You will have a great time for 98 percent of the trip. Two percent will not suit you, and we will, on the air, hear about that two percent for the next 12 to 17 years,” Kimmel laughed.
Discussing the particulars of their epic voyage, Jimmy, Molly, and Beth assured Howard his every need — from full-service toilets to setting aside time to practice the guitar — would be met.
Either way, Howard seemed confident he’d be a low-maintenance travel companion. “I am going to be fun. I am going to be pleasant,” he said, explaining he’d learn to enjoy everything from late-night pizza to impromptu riverboat cruises. “You’re going to see a whole new Howard Stern … and that’s my vow to you.”
“You’re gonna have fun, I know you are,” Jimmy agreed.
Speaking of fun, Jimmy and Molly also regaled Howard and Beth with a tale from a star-studded soiree they attended at Sir Paul McCartney’s house alongside 100 of Hollywood’s biggest names, like Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Steven Spielberg, Kate Capshaw, Taylor Swift, and Travis Kelce.
“Even Bruce Springsteen was like, ‘This is some party,’” Jimmy recalled.
Howard heard a rumor Taylor Swift was the night’s D.J.
“She just had her iPhone and tapped into the house system,” Jimmy said, later adding, “People were dancing in the kitchen, including Molly,”
“What did you guys say to Mick Jagger?” Howard wondered.
“We didn’t even speak to him,” Jimmy laughed. “I think what you do at a party like that is you gravitate toward the people you already know, and you go, ‘Can you believe this is happening and that we’re here?’”
“It was one of those parties where I didn’t know how to hold my body, I didn’t know where to look or what to do,” Molly added, explaining she was relieved to run into two friends there — “Friends” cast members Courteney Cox and Jennifer Anniston.
Howard and Robin were in awe of the guest list.
“My God, how did Mount Rushmore survive that night will all these heads off it?” Robin joked.
