“I don’t think Gary’s ever listened to the show,” Howard says after executive producer gives staffer Jon Hein questionable advice

Gary Dell’Abate might be celebrating 40 years with the Stern Show, but apparently he still doesn’t know Howard as well as he thinks. After the executive producer advised colleague Jon Hein to invite Howard to his daughter’s wedding recently, it set Howard off. “I blew my fucking stack,” he admitted Tuesday morning of Gary’s gaff. “Now I’m stuck, and I have to send a gift.”
Interestingly enough, every other Stern Show staffer Jon asked had told him not to send Howard an invitation. “I have a theory. I don’t think Gary’s ever listened to the show,” Howard revealed. “There’s no way anyone who’s listened to the show would say to Jon Hein, ‘Invite Howard to your daughter’s wedding.’”
“I think Jon was trying to show you respect,” Gary defended.
Respect or not, Howard made it clear his longtime producer doesn’t speak for him: “If anybody else is thinking of asking Gary about anything about me, I do not authorize him to answer — it’s an unauthorized answer.”
