Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl set has been the talk of the town since the Pulitzer Prize-winning Stern Show veteran blew viewers away on Sunday with a critically acclaimed halftime performance. On Tuesday morning, a listener asked Howard and co-host Robin Quivers which artists they believed the N.F.L. should let play next.

Howard was quick to name a handful of legendary rockers he’d love to see play the Big Game, from Green Day, Foo Fighters, and Billy Joel to Pearl Jam and Metallica. “[Metallica] would be so fucking awesome,” he said. “Football and metal, wow.”

He was equally excited by the prospect of Robin’s pick — crossover superstar Taylor Swift — performing at the Super Bowl. “Taylor Swift was on ‘SNL’ … She did a 10-minute [version of ‘All Too Well’] … and it [was] so spectacular,” Howard told listeners. “I was like, ‘Holy fuck — now I get it!’”
