Jerry Falwell Passes: A Legacy of Intolerance
Jerry Falwell Passes: A Legacy of Intolerance
Howard brought up that Jerry Falwell died yesterday, and that he hoped his passing would cause some people to abandon the fundamentalist way of thinking. Howard read an article about Jerry from today’s Daily News, which talked about how he constantly spoke out against gay people and abortion; stated a Teletubbie was gay; and that he thought September 11th happened because God was upset with, among others, homosexuals and feminists in America.
Following Howard’s comments about the rest of the piece, which included mentions of President Bush’s response to Jerry’s death as well as how Jerry unsuccessfully sued Larry Flynt years ago over a cartoon about him that ran in Hustler, he played a clip of Tammy Faye discussing his death on “Larry King Live.”
