Howard Confuses Paul McCartney for Someone Else on the Phone

Howard talked about receiving a phone call, one he carried on for several minutes before doubting the caller’s identity. “I realize I’m not talking to [NBCUniversal’s President of Reality and Late Night] Paul Talegdi. I’m talking to Paul McCartney,” Howard said on the air. “So I go, ‘Paul, listen. I got to tell you what’s going on in this conversation. You must think I’m weird.'”

After clearing things up, Howard talked for several minutes with one of his idols: “I can’t tell you how exciting that was for me.” The call inspired the ones Howard later made to his fans – he wanted to pass along the powerful thrill of a simple phone call. Starting with Mariann from Brooklyn.
