‘AGT’ Auditions vs. South By Southwest

Early in the show, Howard recapped this past weekend’s “AGT” auditions in Austin, bemoaning their concurrence with the annual South By Southwest music festival. Howard had to have the hotel find him another room to get any sleep–the city’s many outdoor stages were on all sides: “So thank god I had another room. Thank you, Four Seasons.” He also found his comfort zone on the show: “I’m the guy America agrees with. I’m the backbone.” Gary said he was at each taping and was even–like rest of the audience–moved: “There was one person that was an amazing revelation.” Howard agreed, hoping it would translate to TV: “We had a Susan Boyle moment.”
