Stern Show executive producer's alter ego makes his West Coast debut
After years of using cheesy pickup lines to hit on women and men in the New York area, “Flirty Gary” has finally made his West Coast debut.
“We really wanted to make our trip to L.A. special, so we brought back one of our favorite phony phone call characters, the Flirty Gary character,” Howard said toward the beginning of Tuesday’s show.
“We put out a casting call for a Hollywood ‘Bachelor’-style reality show, and we said the star of the show was a mysterious, wealthy eccentric named Gary, and we got a ton of responses,” Howard explained.
One woman stood out above the rest and, to Howard’s great surprise, she seemed to really be taken with her suitor over the phone. “I would have thought this might be a guy who would lock me up in the basement,” Howard said.
When Gary told his potential mate his friends call him “Flirty G,” she seemed to bite.
“Oh, that, uh, sounds cute,” the aspiring contestant responded.
“I’ll be in L.A. but I’m trying to get ‘L’-aid, if you know what I’m saying,” Flirty Gary told her at one point.
“Ooooooh,” the caller cooed. ” I have to tell you, so far you sound perfect for me.”
