Butch Walker Praises Tuchus Ahead of Band’s Return to Studio
“If I didn’t listen to the lyrics, I would think it’s an Alice in Chains song … I didn’t know he could sing,” famed producer says in praise of Howard’s “Smell My Tuchus” track
The Tuchus train continues to roll full steam ahead as Howard’s new band has gained a new fan — famed producer Butch Walker. Speaking with Jon Leiberman for Howard 101’s A Hard Look program, Walker, who has worked with everyone from Green Day and Taylor Swift to recent Stern Show guest P!nk, had high praise for the single “Smell My Tuchus.”
“As a producer, I’m like, ‘Well that’s pretty damn good,’” he told Jon of the track in audio heard Monday. “If I didn’t listen to the lyrics, I would think it’s an Alice in Chains song … the guitar tones are good. He sings well — I didn’t know he could sing.”
Co-host Robin Quivers, who was reluctant about the song at first, now wakes up singing it. “The more I listen to it, the more I do appreciate the music and finding things in the music,” she admitted to Howard. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is awful — I’m falling in love with this song.’”
Taking full advantage of the band’s momentum, Howard announced the band is about to work on some new material. “I am getting in the studio with Tuchus this week to record my new song, ‘Metamucil Man,’” he revealed, adding, “Butch can smell a hit.”
