JD Harmeyer Opens up About Issues With Pee Shyness
“The anxiety of ‘I’m taking too long, I need to get out of here or I’m going to look ridiculous’ is definitely a thing,” Stern Show staffer tells Howard
For JD Harmeyer, there aren’t enough waterfalls in the world to help with his urine troubles. On Wednesday, the longtime Stern Show staffer opened up about his pee shyness, often referred to as Shy Bladder Syndrome. “I stand there, and nothing happens — I’m trying to talk it out of me,” he said of his struggles with urinating in public. “I heard doing math sometimes in your head will do it and that doesn’t help.”
When Wolfie noted his co-worker will stakeout a restaurant bathroom to ensure privacy, JD revealed it was a tactical move to dampen his angst. “The anxiety of ‘I’m taking too long, I need to get out of here or I’m going to look ridiculous’ is definitely a thing,” he explained.
“Wait until you get older … it’s like you’re peeing every minute,” Howard warned. “It’s a real problem.”
While Wolfie and Ronnie Mund couldn’t relate to either JD or Howard, Steve Nowicki said he’s struggled in the past with the same issue after an incident at a baseball game. “I went to Yankee Stadium at five years old and I peed in the urinal with my pants down and I turned around and all these old drunk men were pointing at me and laughing,” he remembered. “I think that scarred me for life and I could never pee.”
